Beginners believe it because it sounds smart. “Experts” repeat it because it sounds even smarter. ⚡ Myths That Never Die: “You should always trust your gut.” Your gut is usually just tilt wearing sunglasses. “Any hand can win.” True. And any car can technically survive a jump. Doesn’t mean you should try it. “Bluff more to look aggressive.” If nobody believes your story, it’s not a bluff — it’s a donation. “Never fold a pair.” A pair is not a personality trait. Sometimes it’s just two cards begging to be thrown away. “Good players win every session.” Good players lose too. They just don’t turn one bad session into a full financial documentary. “If you’re on a streak, keep pushing.” The deck does not know you’re “hot.” It has no memory and no respect for your confidence. The funny thing about poker myths is that some of them sound almost true — and that’s exactly why they’re dangerous. They give beginners confidence before they give them understanding. Poker gets a lot easier when you stop playing by quotes and start asking better questions: why am I betting, what am I representing, what hands actually call me, and what story does this line tell? Because the table usually doesn’t punish you for one bad card, it punishes you for believing the wrong idea too long.
